Dubai co-op expands organic range through farm partnerships

Union Coop says demand for organic produce rose 25% in 2026, with the retailer sourcing around six tonnes a day

Union Coop, a consumer co-op in the United Arab Emirates, has expanded its organic product range by forming new partnerships with 20 organic farms.

The Dubai-based retailer now offers 33 categories of organic fruit, vegetables, and other products. CEO Mohamed Al Hashemi said demand for organic products had risen by 25% in 2026, with the highest sales and consumer demand coming in winter.

Expanding the organic range and improving product displays remain key priorities for the co-op, he added, as well as supporting local farms and strengthening supplier partnerships.

In a statement, the co-op said it “regularly reviews its assortment” to assess product quality and pricing, and benchmarks prices against the market to provide a range of choices for shoppers’ needs.

It also conducts farm visits to review products, cultivation methods, and compliance, and maintains contact with both existing and prospective suppliers to introduce new varieties and expand its network of partner farms.

The new partnerships follow a pledge by Union Coop earlier this year to increase the presence of national products on its shelves, in order to support the UAE’s objectives of achieving food security and advancing economic sustainability.

At the time, Al Hashemi saidUnion Coop would continue expanding its partnerships with local producers in line with the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy.
