OurCoop rebrands its travel and utilities arms after merger

The relaunches follow the merger of Central, Midcounties and Chelmsford Star co-operatives

OurCoop has rebranded its travel and utilities businesses following its creation earlier this year from the merger of the Midcounties, Central England and Chelmsford Star co-ops.

Co-op Travel has unveiled its new identity as TravelCoop, a travel business into the wider OurCoop family of brands, which the society says will create greater opportunities to showcase the value of OurCoop membership and connecting its one million members with benefits across the wider society.

Customers will continue to receive the same advice, holiday partners and breadth of choice, says OurCoop. Existing bookings will continue as normal, with customers able to book in branch, online or over the phone.

TravelCoop offers holidays through its network of more than 69 high street branches and online, ranging from package breaks and cruises to long-haul, luxury and tailor-made travel.

To mark the rebrand, OurCoop is offering members an exclusive £50 holiday bonus on qualifying TravelCoop holiday bookings, which can be redeemed against selected extras including airport parking, airport hotels, lounge access, fast track, car hire and excursions.

Additionally, OurCoop members can access deals across the wider society, including FoodCoop, EnergyCoop, MobileCoop, and BroadbandCoop.

This rebrand marks an exciting new chapter for our travel,” said chief operating officer, travel channels, Claire Evans, “and reflects TravelCoop’s place within the wider OurCoop family, following the coming together of three societies.

“It gives TravelCoop a fantastic opportunity to reach more customers and members across the newly combined Society, while introducing our existing customers to the wider benefits of OurCoop membership.

“Our name may be changing, but everything our customers and members know and value about us remains the same – from our expert advice and trusted partners to our unrivalled breadth of choice.”

Co-op Holidays will continue to operate under its existing brand, with no changes for customers, while personal travel agents and consortium partners will also continue to operate as normal.

OurCoop has also unveiled a fresh look for its utilities businesses – BroadbandCoop, MobileCoop and EnergyCoop – alongside “a significantly enhanced customer proposition that makes its broadband, mobile and energy services more competitive than ever”.

The launch marks much more than a visual refresh. As the UK’s only co-operative to offer broadband, mobile and energy services, OurCoop has strengthened its products across all three brands, introducing new customer benefits, greater flexibility and exclusive member rewards while staying true to its co-operative values.

The society says the enhanced proposition includes flexible mobile tariffs that allow customers to move up and down plans as their needs change, carbon neutral mobile plans and handsets, broadband with no in-contract price rises for two years, carbon-neutral broadband that supports tree planting initiatives, and EnergyCoop’s unique Community Power Tariff – the UK’s only energy tariff powered by 100% community-generated renewable electricity.

“This relaunch represents much more than a new look for our utilities businesses,” said head of utilities Stewart Newman. “We’ve taken the opportunity to strengthen our broadband, mobile and energy proposition to ensure we’re offering customers even greater value, flexibility and benefits, while staying true to the co-operative principles that set us apart.”

To celebrate the launch, OurCoop is running a two-week promotional campaign.

Launch offers include:

  • BroadbandCoop: Welcome Reward, first month free and Anytime Calls for £5 per month
  • MobileCoop: First month free on SIM-only plans, Welcome Reward and 10% off additional SIMs
  • EnergyCoop: £20 reward when signing up to any tariff

For the two-week promotional period, all customers will also be able to access member-exclusive benefits.

Every new or existing customer who makes a qualifying purchase during the promotional period will also be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a £2,000 Co-op Holidays voucher.
