On Friday, 2 November, as part of Co-operatives United, The Co-operative Group will host a conference on values and principles at the Exchange Auditorium, Manchester Central.
The conference will begin at 10:00am with a welcome talk by Chair Herbert Daybell, Chiar of the Group Values and Principles Committee.
At 10:10 participants will discuss the first theme of the conference – membership, in a debate chaired by Stuart Ramsey, Co-operative Group Director and member of the Group Values and Principles Committee.
Staffan Eklund, International Secretary of the Swedish Co-operative Union will speak of Modernising Membership and Sam Grayston, regional Co-operative and Membership Manager will assess Membership Proposition.
At 11:10 Chris Boyd will provide an introduction into the “Northern Ireland Co-operative Schools”.
During launch break delegates can also choose to attend Co-operatives United workshops.
The discussion will continue with the second theme of the conference, “diversity” which will be assessed in a debate chaired by Jenny Barnes, Co-operative Group Director and member of the Group Values and principles Committee, also Chair of the Membership Diversity working group.
At 2:10 Colin Baines, Social Goals and Campaigns Manager will introduce the third topic of the conference, “social goals”.
Klaus Niederlander, Director of Co-operatives Europe speak of climate change, community energy and co-operation. The discussion will be chaired by Marilynne Burbage, Co-operative Group Director and member of the Group Values and Principles Committee.
