Volunteers needed for young people’s co-operative movement

‘We want young people from all communities to be able to benefit from Woodcraft Folk’

Woodcraft Folk, the co-operative educational movement for children and young people, has launched a campaign to recruit new volunteers.

‘Welcome to Woodcraft Folk’ is calling for people to join the organisation to enable even more children and young people to take part. It has over 300 groups that meet at venues across the UK, where volunteers deliver education for social change through a range of fun indoor and outdoor activities.

Activities are designed to develop self confidence, with the aim of building a world based on equality, friendship, and peace. Current volunteers run weekly groups catering for young people up to 21 years old, and supervise residential and camping trips.

Pip Sayers, chair of trustees for Woodcraft Folk, said, “We want young people from all communities to be able to benefit from Woodcraft Folk. Our organisation was founded on the principle of inclusion, and we are looking for more volunteers in local communities to help us make that happen.

“Our current ‘Welcome to Woodcraft Folk’ campaign enables new volunteers to find out more about supporting our activities and stresses that everyone is welcome at Woodcraft Folk.”

The campaign was recently launched across Woodcraft Folks’ digital channels and reached over 3,000 potential supporters in the first 24 hours. And a promotional video produced by the charity’s small in-house team working with young members and volunteers was viewed over 1,500 times on the first day.

The hashtags #WelcomeToWoodcraftFolk and #EverybodyWelcome are being used to highlight the organisation’s central principles of inclusion and equality. Adults who are interested in volunteering can call 020 7703 4173 for more information or enquire online.
