America’s Credit Union Conference delegates donate goodie bags to children’s hospital

The CUNA event traditionally holds a ‘give-back’ event for its host city

Participants in America’s Credit Union Conference (ACUC) got involved in a Giveback programme to support Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

Hosted by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the four-day conference looked at how to move the credit union system into the future of financial services. Every year the conference organises a “give back” event in the host city, following a long tradition.

Delegates assembled 300 “Sunshine Bags” filled with toys, snacks, and other goodies, and 240 school backpacks for paediatric patients at the Boston Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network hospital.

“We’re proud to partner with the Children’s Miracle Network in Boston,” said Marlo Foltz, vice president of blended learning, products and services at CUNA. “These kids are facing some pretty tough and scary challenges, so if we can help provide them with the much-needed smiles and encouragement to keep fighting, we are happy to play a part.”

Boston Children’s Hospital is one of the largest paediatric medical centres in the USA, with a 404-bed comprehensive centre for paediatric health care and 25,000 inpatient admissions each year.

“The donation we received from America’s credit unions will benefit our child life services, who support children’s experiences at the hospital. Some of these services that specialise in supporting children would not be possible without the philanthropy of our corporate partners,” said Sharon Yon-Johansson, manager of Children’s Miracle Network Programs for Boston Children’s Hospitals Trust.
