Debates, Workshops, Case Studies

Jeremy Corbyn’s tremendous victory in the Labour leadership election confounded the British establishment. They and the capitalist media did their best to prevent a radical socialist from being elected as party leader. They poured scorn on his anti-austerity stance and still insist that it cannot win general elections even though the SNP stormed to victory in Scotland on an anti-austerity platform.

Capitalism has used austerity policies as an excuse to slash living standards of the working class, arguing that it is the only way forward for the British economy. At the same time they have created a Privilege economy where the rich get ever richer.

This conference will discuss and debate co-operative and labour movement alternatives to austerity and capitalism and help us shape our vision of a prosperous caring society based on a People’s Economy.

The new Labour leadership says that nationalisation, but without the old style bureaucratic policies that left control in the hands of the Establishment, will be accompanied by co-operative democratic principles in the new People’s economy. The challenge is ours – to thrash out how a People’s economy can be shaped to benefit everyone.

Who Should Attend:

The conference has been organised by Co-operative Business Consultants (CBC) in response to widespread enthusiasm amongst co-operative and labour movement activists for shaping new progressive policies to combat the Tory party and create a society in which all can prosper. It is open to all those seeking to create a prosperous caring society.
