The big debate: What next for women in the Co-operative movement?

17 June 2016 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

After the Co-operative Women’s Challenge launched in 2011, there was a strong appetite to incorporate gender equity across the co-operative movement as a matter of course. Some of the issues for women in the movement highlighted through the original Challenge have come up again in recent research by Co-operatives UK and the Co-operative College.

As part of the Congress weekend, Co-operative News – in collaboration with CUK and the College – is hosting a debate on gender parity, revisiting the Co-operative Women’s Challenge and looking to the future.

We will be exploring women’s priorities within co-ops: What are the issues affecting women in the movement? What support networks are there in place? What’s missing? What are the next steps?

An expert panel of four co-operative women will kick-start the discussion, but there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone (of all genders) to get involved in the conversation – everybody welcome!
