The International Co-operative Alliance will hold its next global conference and general assembly in Antalya, Turkey. The event, which takes place every two years, will gather delegates from all over the world to discuss on the future of the global movement.
Themed “Towards 2020 – What will your co-operative look like?”, the November 2015 event will include four plenary sessions and four breakout sessions where delegates will focus on issues such as sustainability, participation legal framework, capital and identity, all important pillars of the Blueprint for a Co-operative Decade.
The conference, which takes place in the Maritim Pine Beach Resort from 9-13 November, is jointly organised by the International Co-operative Alliance and the National Cooperative Union of Turkey, which represents 15 societies and 1.4m individual members.
As part of the Global Conference, ICA’s Committee on Co-operative Research (ICA CCR) is also hosting a research conference in collaboration with the International Labour Organization. The event is open to researchers, students, practitioners, advocates, policy makers and representatives of employers’ and workers’ organisations. Themed “Cooperatives and the World of Work”, the conference will touch upon a number of issues, including the relationship between co-operatives and women’s economic empowerment, trade unions, labour law compliance, productivity, decent work in the rural economy or innovation.
