This year’s Practitioners Forum from Co-operatives UK will hear from the chair of Anglia Farmers co-operative.

As an introduction to a day of management practices, Kit Papworth will talk about the agricultural co-operative and how it does business.

The event, held in Manchester on 11 November, will focus on best practices for co-ops and mutuals in four areas: accounting and finance; membership and campaigns; secretariat and corporate governance; and communications.

This year also sees the addition of a communications forum. Caroline Cheetham, BBC Radio Five Live journalist and director of the School of News, is among several media experts who will be offering advice on the most effective ways to market the co-operative identity.

Ed Mayo, secretary general of Co-operatives UK, said: “One of the great things about this event is that it contributes towards continued professional development, providing evidence for portfolios and performance management processes. We’ve taken the main four functions of business and given them a co-operative angle, making them relevant to both experienced practitioners and trainees or graduates alike.”
