Chris Herries has stepped down as chair of Co-operatives UK following the voluntary winding-up of the Energy Saving Co-operative.
Ms Herries was elected to her Co-operatives UK position through being a director of ESC, which entered voluntary liquidation on 10 February.
With immediate effect, Ms Herries has resigned as chair, but will remain a director until the organisation’s annual general meeting on 29 June.
A new chair of the organisation will be considered at the March board meeting.
Ed Mayo, secretary general of Co-operatives UK, said: “As a board director, and more recently chair of Co-operatives UK, Chris has made a most valuable contribution to the organisation. With 30 years’ experience of the co-operative sector, her counsel has always been highly regarded and I know she will continue to champion our movement in all her future endeavours.”
