The International Summit of Co-operatives is accepting research papers from co-operators and academics across the world. The organisers of the Summit, which takes place on 6-9 October in Quebec, are inviting authors and researchers to submit scientific articles on the theme Co-operatives’ Power of Innovation.
Building on the idea of innovation within co-operatives, the authors are asked to focus on one of the five sub-themes: developing co-operative and mutual businesses; financing and capitalisation for co-operatives and mutuals; food security through co-operatives and mutuals; access to health and social care services through co-operatives and mutuals; and solutions to the global employment crisis offered by co-operatives and mutuals.
A committee of international experts will look at new articles, as well as articles published in journals with limited circulation, seeking to make local contributions available to an international readership. The committee will pay special attention to articles identifying solutions to address the development and performance challenges facing co-operatives and mutuals.
The selected articles (in English, French and Spanish) will be included in a volume published in advance and given to Summit participants on a USB key.
All those who submit articles will be eligible for a 15% discount on Summit registration fees, while authors whose articles are selected and who wish to attend will receive a 40% discount.
The articles must be sent to Lou Hammond at [email protected] by 10pm EST on 28 February. The articles, including bibliography, cannot exceed 30,000 characters. Apart from having their papers published and distributed, interested academics and co-operators can also present their research results at the Summit.
Selected authors will be notified by 11 April. More information on the Summit and submission guidelines are available online at www.intlsummit.coop
