A restructure of Midcounties Co-operative’s senior team has brought the society’s energy and pharmacy businesses closer to its executive.
Previously, chief executive Ben Reid was responsible for the two businesses, but now the heads of both groups have been promoted to the executive team.
The move follows last year’s announcement of the society’s interim results for the six months to July 2013, which saw sales increase 36% to £593m.
Ramsay Dunning, group general manager of Co-operative Energy, is now on the executive team after the trading group delivered a strong performance during the half-year period, with sales growing by more than 600% to £75m.
Following the recent launch of two new healthcare websites, the society has appointed of Rad Sofronijevic to head of retail for the healthcare division. Ms Sofronijevic moves from the childcare division, where she was previously head of commercial. Now, she will take responsibility for driving the growth of the society’s 45 pharmacy branches and its e-commerce offering.
As part of the re-structure, the society’s two deputy chief executives – Andy Cresswell and Steve Ridler – will take responsibility for the Pharmacy and Energy trading groups, which were previously headed by Ben Reid.
Mr Reid, who will now focus on leading the society, said: “The society has delivered impressive growth in 2013 and we recognised the opportunity to build our senior team to enable us to continue to drive growth throughout 2014 and beyond.
“This move forms part of a wider plan to invest in the business to continue to develop the society’s offering and ensure that we lead the way in demonstrating the benefits of trading with a co-operative.”
