The Midcounties Co-operative has appointed Mark Oliver as its superintendent pharmacist. Mr Oliver will be responsible for helping all branches provide the best quality care for patients, while ensuring they adhere to the highest clinical standards.
Mark Oliver has a degree in pharmacy from King’s College, London and a clinical certificate in community pharmacy. He is also a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
He said: “The Midcounties Co-operative is highly regarded in the pharmacy industry and I am joining at an exciting time for the business as it plans to develop its offering to both high street customers and NHS and private services. I am really looking forward to working with the team to help deliver the society’s quality of care and growth targets, and help it achieve its goal of being the best co-operative.”
Mr Oliver will work with the management team to deliver the group’s financial targets and he will also oversee the commissioning of new NHS and private services.
Commenting on the appointment, Adrian Wilkinson, group general manager at Midcounties, said: “This is a key appointment for the group as we look to future growth and innovation. Mark’s previous experience in the pharmacy sector alongside his strong business background will ideally complement the existing team.”
As UK’s largest independent co-operative, Midcounties operates 45 pharmacies and one specialist gift and beauty business. It dispenses over 3.9m NHS prescriptions per year with a turnover of over £42m, trading across nine NHS primary care trusts.
