The number of confirmed delegates for the forthcoming ICMIF Biennial Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, 6-8 November, has now reached a record total of 280. Delegates attending the event in Cape Town will be coming from over 85 ICMIF member organizations and from 45 countries making this a truly global event. The theme for this year’s Conference is ‘Lead…Innovate…Influence’. As ICMIF CEO Shaun Tarbuck says, “This is the time for mutual/cooperative insurance leaders from around the world to network with peers; gain new insights and strategies; hear about business innovations and learn about ways to influence key stakeholders. ICMIF is a best practice organization; continually striving to be the best and to drive our businesses and our sector forward. This is the conference where our members will be inspired to continue being the best leaders in the insurance sector”.
Key note speakers at the event include:
Francois Pienaar – former captain of the South Africa rugby team who took them to World Cup victory in 1995 and who is now a renowned speaker on the topic of leadership and also the founding Chairman of the Make A Difference Foundation (MAD), ICMIF’s official Conference charity for 2013.
Dr Michael Power – Strategist at Investec Asset Management, will give a presentation entitled Waterworld in which he will chart recent climactic changes and describe the new rules of the investment game that now operate.
Dame Pauline Green, President of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) will update delegates on the ‘Blueprint for a Co-operative Decade’ which was launched at the end of the UN International Year of Co-operatives. Dame Pauline will update delegates on the ‘2020 Challenge’ which aims for cooperatives to be the fastest growing form of enterprise by 2020.

The ICMIF Conference is preceded by the ICA Global Conference and General Assembly (1-5 November) and 35 ICA delegates will join the first day of the ICMIF Conference.
