The number of supporters football trusts around the UK is growing.

At the Supporters Direct event last month, Chair Brian Burgess said the number of trusts was growing and this was a force for good in the game. Currently the movement has around 300,000 supporters across Europe, and 11 new trusts were established so far in 2013.

He said: “The more supporter trust influence we can get in the clubs the more likely we are to move towards a much more sustainable regulation in the game."

One of the trusts set up this year has become the largest club in community ownership. Portsmouth, a club saved from administration by Pompey Supporters’ Trust, was taken over by the community in April.

Speaking at Supporters Direct AGM, David Lampitt, the organisation's Chief Executive, said increasing membership and diversifying revenues will continue to be the main focus for Supporters Direct in the next years to come.
