Happy Birthday to The Phone Co-op

The Phone Co-op will be celebrating its 15th birthday during Co-operatives Fortnight.

The Phone Co-op will be celebrating its 15th birthday during Co-operatives Fortnight.

Since it was launched in 1998, the Phone Co-op started in a spare bedroom and has become a nationwide telecommunications co-operative providing services to over 23,000 business and residential customers.

Towards the end of last year, The Phone Co-op launched under the national ‘The Co-operative’ brand. In 2012, The Phone Co-op’s sales rose by 4.6% and its turnover reached £10.7 million. It has grown despite a struggling economy, showing that it’s possible to make the co-operative difference an advantage in a competitive industry where customer dissatisfaction is the norm.

Vivian Woodell, founder and CEO of The Phone Co-op, says: “None of this growth would have been possible without our customers and members, who have invested in the growth of the co-operative and have told their friends, colleagues and neighbours about us. During Co-operatives Fortnight, we will be launching a special campaign to reward our customers and members who continue to help us grow their co-operative”.
