Co-operatives from all over the world are invited to submit entries for the dotCoop Global Awards for Co-operative Excellence. Every two years the Awards are given to co-operatives who have shown a great commitment to promoting co-operative values and principles.

With 2012 being the International Year of Co-operatives, this year the Awards will be given to those co-ops who supported the year.

The awards are designed so all co-ops, no matter their size, will stand a chance to win. The winners of each category will be invited to the awards ceremony, due to take place in November in Cape Town, as part of the ICA’s Global Conference and General Assembly. They will also receive USD 2,000 towards travel costs to South Africa.

Referring to the Awards, Carolyn Hoover, the CEO of dotCoop, said: “Global Award winners in 2011 came from all over the world and from a variety of sectors. We had some great feedback from the judges and entrants in 2011 and have worked on streamlining the entry process for everyone.”

Organisers are also seeking sponsors for the awards. They will be recognised at the ICA General Assembly and associated with the Awards until 2015.

• Entries can be submitted via the dotCoop Global Awards site www.globalawards.coop. The deadline for entries is 31 July.
