Co-operatives invited to take part in collective filming project

Co-operatives across the UK are being invited to star in a collaborative film to celebrate Co-operatives Fortnight.

Media Co-op will edit DIY footage taken for the project into a film which promotes the work of co-operatives and mutuals, and which documents why they are local, loved and trusted.

All co-ops can take part by filming themselves working, holding up handmade signs and giving themselves a round of applause. Footage can be filmed on mobile phones, digital cameras or camcorders, and co-op members can get as creative as they like.

Nick Molyneux of Co-operatives UK, which is co-ordinating the project, said: “The basic idea is very simple. We’re asking co-operatives throughout the county to film what they do and what they think of co-operatives.

“These short pieces of video will be edited together by the Media Co-op to make the finished product which will be released during Co-operatives Fortnight. It will be a truly co-operative film from start to finish.”

• To submit your video, email [email protected] by May 30th. Participants will be sent a simple set of instructions, which will help bring the film together. The deadline for video submissions is June 3rd. More information is available on the Co-operatives UK website.
