NTUC Income Chief Executive, Tan Suee Chieh, was conferred a “Lifetime Achievement Award” on 30 November 2012 in the annual Hall of Fame Awards organised by the Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS). This is the highest honour given to an individual at these awards.

The award recognises Tan Suee Chieh’s revolutionary approach to championing NTUC Income’s brand of honest insurance and in placing customers before profits. The award recognised the way in which effective rebranding had been used to transform NTUC Income into a household name in Singapore.

The IAS commended NTUC Income for having demonstrated time and again that it puts customers first. Recently NTUC Income simplified contracts and documents into plain English in order to help enable customers to make better informed decisions.

Tan Suee Chieh says, “I was very surprised to hear from the IAS that I that I had been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award. It was a great honour and one which I appreciated deeply.

“The last five years at NTUC Income have been a challenging yet rewarding experience. Our brand reflects who we are and what we stand for – a social enterprise that is made different and is making a difference for people in Singapore.”

NTUC Income’s “Essentials” campaign was also a winner at the Institute of Advertising Singapore Hall of Fame Awards 2012. The campaign which depicts life insurance as being as essential, and as affordable, as rice, bread and milk, received the top honours in the Print Campaign of the Year category.

Mr Tan said “These awards and accolades serve as great encouragement to us. We are blessed with committed and talented people at both NTUC Income and BBH Asia Pacific, our creative partners. And it is on behalf of all of us, that I accept the award.”

Now in their 14th year, the IAS Hall of Fame Awards recognise excellence, outstanding achievements and breakthrough ideas in creative communications.
