Co-operatives United Interactive is the online event for a week-long celebration of co-operation in Manchester.
Managed by the Co-operative News Global News Hub, this website will enable visitors to watch speakers and workshops; follow event reporters and join in discussions with a global audience of co-operators at Co-operatives United (October 29th-November 2nd).
Around 10,000 people are expected in Manchester for the biggest festival of co-operation seen in the UK for generations, but the Co-operatives United Interactive website is aimed at enabling those who cannot attend to be involved online.
Those attending the conference can also catch up on missed sessions throughout the day. Visitors to the website can watch parts of Co-operatives United live, catch up on the main events and presentations of the day and join the conversation with people at Manchester Central and others around the world.
Co-operative News is also managing the Social Media Hub in the Ideas Zone at Co-operatives United and delegates will be able to connect with visitors from around the world; share stories and even take advantage of social media lessons.
Chuck Gould, Director-General of the International Co-operatve Alliance, said: “Co-operators around the world will be united through the Interactive website where they can take part in an exciting week of activities and events to end the International Year of Co-operatives.”
Ed Mayo, Secretary General of Co-operatives UK, added: “Co-operatives are set apart by their participative, inclusive nature. Co-operatives United Interactive puts those principles into action, enabling people to experience this momentous event and join a global conversation wherever they are.”
The newly launched also features ‘Celebrating 2012’, a short film commissioned by Co-operatives United to celebrate the promotional work done by co operatives worldwide to celebrate the International Year of Co-operatives.
