Thursday will be the closing day to the International Summit of Cooperatives in Quebec.
The day will open at 7.30am with a talk on Future Co-operative Leaders. The panel will consist of Suzanne Gendron, Vice-President Executive Services to the CEO and Management Committee, Desjardins and Tim McApline, who runs the highly successful Young and Free programme in America.
This will be followed by an opening session at 8.30am, with Rüdiger Krech, Director of the Department of Ethics at the World Health Organization. He explained he was taking part on the summit because: “We have to think “outside the box” if we really want to ensure universal access to health care which is appropriate, fair and which contributes to reducing inequities.”
The first Round Table will take place at 9am on ‘Funding the future: Emerging strategies in co-operative financing and capitalisation’. Chris Harvey, Global Leader at Deloitte, will be presenting the results of the report ‘Funding the Future: Evolving Strategies in Co-operative Financing and Capitalisation’.
After a coffee break, delegates will have the chance to attend the Ministerial Round Table on ‘A role to play – global socio-political influence’. This will be chaired by Hugues Sibille, Vice-president of Crédit Coopératif, and the panel will include: Roberto Rodrigues, Special Ambassador for Co-operatives, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Dame Pauline Green, President, International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) and Elisabeth Atangana, Special Ambassador for Co-operatives, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The final Round Table of the event ‘A new role to play – Thinking differently, thinking co-operatively’ will take place at 2pm and will include the panellists: Jacques Attali, Economist and Writer, President of Planet Finance, and Felice Scalvini, Vice President of International Co-operative Alliance (ICA).
The event will close at 3pm with a presentation of the Declaration of the 2012 international Summit of Co-operatives, the closing speech will be performed by Wenyan Yang, Chief, Social Perspective Branch, Division for Social Policy and Development, Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
At 4pm the Summit will come to a close.
