To mark the 2012 International Year of Cooperatives, several members of a few different cooperatives have decided to challenge themselves by participating in a relay race to raise funds for youth programs.
These are not professional runners. They are entrepreneurs, workers and cooperators who live and breathe the cooperative way every day in the companies they work for. They have decided to do this run to illustrate the strength of cooperation and to support the youth programs put on by the DesÉquilibres cooperative.
There will be three cooperative running teams participating:
Co-operators Insurance and Financial Services is also one of the sponsors of this race.
“Why am I doing this run? Most importantly, I see it as a great challenge to take on with a group of like-minded people who share the same interests: physical activity, personal and group challenges, commitment and banding together. It’s also a great opportunity to share my vision of cooperation, while listening to others and learning from them about this business model we all subscribe to.”

Worker-member of the solidarity cooperative La Forêt d’Arden
