For the first time in the history of World Fair Trade Day, a head of state publicly joined in the celebration. Beginning by joining a Fair Trade breakfast, President Evo Morales and Vice President Garcia Linera were part of the day-long celebration on May 12. During the breakfast, Fair Trade advocates sent their messages of solidarity to the president and vice president in the form of emails and video messages. During his speech, President Morales spoke of the rich history of Fair Trade in Bolivia and the hope for a brighter future that it held for the nation and its producers.
