Canadian insurance co-operative The Co-operators is giving staff a chance to win a trip to Manchester, UK, to attend the International Year of Co-operatives closing ceremony.
Competitors will complete six challenges to be in for a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to Co-operatives United, 29 October–2 November, which will host the International Co-operative Alliance's General Assembly, the UK's Co-operative Congress and exhibitions for co-operative-to-co-operative trading and public consumption.
Throughout the challenges, staff will be judged on their knowledge of the 'co-operative difference' and be asked to bring out their detective skills, creative side and abilities to educate.
The contest, 'Let’s put the U in UK' is open to all staff, agents and agency staff from The Co-operators' group of companies.
Mary Lou Schaefer, Retail Co-op Experience Project Manager for The Co-operators, said: “Each of the challenges are based on an element of our Retail Co-op Experience, which is how we extend the features and benefits of our co-operative difference into the retail sales experience.
“We wanted to make sure that there was a learning, research, teaching and spreading the word opportunity with each of the challenges.”
As part of the first challenge, people were asked to watch a video about how The Co-operators put the values of co-operation into action, and the second had staff completing an e-module and then being quizzed about their knowledge of co-ops.
The rest are being kept a secret, “we want to keep them mysterious and build some suspense” said Mary.
The winners will have the chance to visit co-op points of interest, as well be tourists in the city of Manchester as part of the trip.
