On March 19, 2012, the Cooperative Development Foundation will host a forum on Cooperative Solutions for Affordable Senior Housing in Rural America at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

The forum will profile how rural housing challenges can be addressed through cooperative housing. Presentations and panel discussions will involve stakeholders in the community and economic development areas who are experts in public policy, the cooperative business model, affordable housing, energy efficiency, manufactured housing, and the rural economy.

The forum offers an opportunity to learn how affordable cooperative housing models, sized appropriately for rural communities and using energy-efficient manufactured housing, can provide all residents of rural communities with cost savings and provide rural seniors with options for aging in place.  The Forum also will provide an overview of the challenges and public policy solutions involved in creating affordable cooperative housing in rural communities.
