The UN International Year of Co-operatives has brought our people-centred business model to the world's attention showing, above all, that the co-op model is a serious business structure with scale not just a ‘feel good’ alternative to business as usual – and one that came through the global financial crisis with flying colours. |

The Australian IYC Secretariat has embarked on the production of an attractive, hard-cover commemorative book with Focus Publishing (a division of Commstrat). The book evocatively describes and illustrates the business, the people and the thinking behind 50 of the nation’s most interesting and diverse co-operatives. It is the first time the co-operative sector has collaborated on a coffee-table publication to celebrate and promote the sector to our business partners, government, the media and the public.

Contributing to the International Year book as a book partner, is one way to collectively raise the profile of Australia’s co-operative 'brand', promoting its scale, diversity, strengths and successes while building for the future. When it is published in late 2012, this newly commissioned book will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to promote public awareness of Australian co-operatives and provide momentum for the sector in years to come. It will help our sector to communicate the co-op business case to trading partners both outside and inside our sphere of influence.
