The Elm City Co-Op Market finally opened Thursday in New Haven.
This market is different from other markets because its shoppers are its owners. If you live in the area, you can be an owner of the store as well. And many of its products are grown locally.
Amy Christensen-Regni said, “This is a co-op, which means people in New Haven and the surrounding areas own this store, so this is a real community store.”
The store brought more than 100 jobs to New Haven, most of which were filled by city residents.
The market has everything from fresh produce to fresh meat and seafood and other groceries. It also has a prepared food section, including a deli and salad bar.
