The Co-operative News is the oldest cooperative newspaper in the world and this September they celebrated 140 years of continuous publication. The newspaper is produced by The Co-operative Press Limited, which is based in Manchester, UK. The Press is a secondary federal cooperative society owned by other cooperative societies and sympathetic organisations.

During the anniversary celebrations in Manchester, UK, The Co-operative Press also launched the new online Global News Hub which is a collection of articles, features and opinion submitted by cooperatives and cooperators from around the world. The aim is to share stories and information on cooperative enterprise and initiatives globally, plus provide a platform for cooperators to engage with each other.

Created and managed by The Co-operative Press, the website publishes stories and news articles; in addition to this the website hosts blogs, picture, audio and video content. There is also a documents section in which visitors can also find a wide range of resources such as presentations, annual reports and academic papers.

The Global News Hub will also keep visitors up to date on events and activities related to the UN’s International Year of Cooperatives for 2012.
