In a space that has a unique history, a group of values-minded individuals is working hard to create a unique future.
At 549 Columbus Ave., where Lucy Parsons Center closed their doors several months ago, a creative-based cooperative has moved in. With room for 15 cooperative members who work in web design, photography and other creative professions, the group is currently a collection of ten individuals who together create a thriving creative sounding board and promote socially conscious work.
“We’re focused around folks doing work for small businesses, mission- and values-minded organizations, social justice organizations and grass roots groups,” explained cooperative member Ben Mauer, who recently spoke to the South End News in the midst of planning the space’s first fundraiser.
