For the third consecutive time, NRECA has been selected as a top-50 employer for people over the age of 50 by AARP.

NRECA ranked 18th on the 2011 Best Employers for Workers Over 50 list, published every two years by AARP. The list recognizes public and private companies that develop workplace policies and practices that attract and retain older workers.

In particular, AARP cited an NRECA employee benefit that provides retirees a monthly stipend, based on years of service, to apply towards the premiums of certain insurance programs.

AARP considered other areas such as recruiting practices, opportunities for training and career development and alternative work arrangements.

NRECA is attractive to over-50 workers because of its wide range of retirement programs. “The focus on preparing people to have a happy, healthy retirement is what sets us apart,” said Paul Hvidding, vice president, human resources. “It’s hard to beat our retirement programs.”
