Representatives of My Mountain Co-op met with members of Terrace city council Thursday night, to provide an update on the co-op’s activities and ways in which the city can help Shames Mountain remain open long term.

While the co-op has raised over two-thirds of the $550,000 needed to complete its purchase from the Shames Mountain Ski Corporation, the big challenge is making the ski area financially viable on an annual basis.

Founding director Shaun Stevenson says local governments need to recognize that Shames is a critical asset to the region.
