Activist bids for MSP role

Co-operative activist Kevin Hutchens has been selected to stand as Labour candidate for Angus North and the Mearns in the Scottish Parliament elections on May 5th.

Mr Hutchens, a member of the Co-operative Group’s Grampian Area Committee and also the Scotland and Northern Ireland Region Values and Principles Committee, stood unsuccessfully as a List candidate in both the 2003 and 2007 Holyrood elections.

He was also Labour’s general election candidate in the Angus constituency in May, but was beaten into third place by the SNP and the Tories.

Mr Hutchens has been active in voluntary and community work for more than 30 years.
