Scotmid set to buy chain

Scotmid is set to bolster its store portfolio with the acquisition of 51 convenience stores.

The society is in negotiations with Botterills to purchase the branches, which operate under the Spar franchise across the central belt of the country, along with outlets in Aysrshire and the south west of Scotland. Botterills, a family-owned retailer, is based in High Blantyre, near Glasgow, and has around 1,000 employees. Scotmid operates over 140 c-stores and employs 4,000 people.

The negotiations are at the due diligence stage, with no further comment available from either party.
