Northern Ireland toasts Co-op launch

In celebration of International Co-operative Day, Co-operative Group Chair Len Wardle visited Northern Ireland to launch a new store and the province’s Co-op Party council.


Mr Wardle joined local school children to open the Ballynure Co-operative store, which has been transformed from a Costcutter with a £300,000 revamp.

In Belfast, the Co-op Day celebrations welcomed members to the Ulster Hall to attend a wine and canapés reception. Later on, Co-operative Party General Secretary Michael Stephenson launched Northern Ireland’s first Co-operative branch, as reported in the News.
