Student wins writing prize

The winner of the Co-op Writing Prize 2009 at University of Central Lancashire has been presented with his cheque.


Jonathan Bacon, a student on the MA Magazine Journalism programme, wrote the winning article about the Fairtrade town of Garstang, which was published in the News, and won a £500 prize from sponsors the Co-operative Group.

The Group also handed out five runners-up prizes of £100 to students judged by Co-operative News Editor Dave Bowman. The runners-up were Stephanie Buscher, Edward Devlin, Fiona Haran, Alice Lipscombe-Southwell and Leonie Tancred.
