MP salutes National Park

Said Mr Lepper: “The decision came on the 60th anniversary of the day the first post-war Labour Government began the process of setting up National Parks in England and Wales. The South Downs were considered then, but for various reasons not included.

 

“Recently I joined Bill Bryson and other campaigners outside the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs headquarters in London to hand in a giant postcard calling for an early decision. It is a tribute to the dedication of people across the area that at long last the unique chalk grasslands of the South Downs will join the National Park family.”
