Women in democracy

More than 60 Co-operative Group members and staff attended the recent Women and Democracy conference held in Manchester.

The event, hosted by the Group’s Northern Region membership team at the Group’s CIS Tower, aimed to encourage more women to get involved in co-operative business and democracy.

The conference was opened by Group Secretary Moira Lees, who spoke about her experiences within the Co-operative Group. Louise Ellman, Labour/Co-op MP for Liverpool Riverside, also discussed her experiences as an MP.

The conference concluded with a discussion with Amanda Jones, head of diversity for the Group, Kathryn Smith, Group director and Anjum Anwar, dialogue development officer for Blackburn Cathedral.
