The Group’s Diamond Award competition was won by Kay Keep from Bletchley, while Mark Weibrecht of J R Barlow & Son Funeral Directors in Pendlebury, Salford, took the title of Employee of the Year in the former United Co-operatives’ scheme.
Funeral arranger Kay received her award after going the extra mile to arrange the funeral of a terminally ill youngster. She was approached by the boy’s family and began visiting him to build up a relationship. After he died, Kay was on hand to help the family, ensuring everything went to plan.
Mark Weibrecht scooped the award in recognition of his dedication and enthusiasm for his job as an operator and driver. Heavily involved in charity work in his own time, Mark organises toy collections for the NSPCC and liaises with local businesses for donations to charity auctions. He also had the initiative of creating CD photograph albums as a lasting memory to bereaved families.
