THE Co-operative Group has acquired the North of England-based QMP petrol filling station business for an undisclosed figure.

QMP owns seven fuel retailing and convenience store sites in North Yorkshire and Teesside, which will now become part of the Group&#039s Petrol Filling Station division, taking its total number of sites to 85.

The filling stations acquired are at: Fairfield, Stockton; Saltburn; High Leven, Yarm; Lowgates and Brompton Road, Northallerton; Quarry Moor, Ripon and Wetherby Road, Knaresborough.

All 70 employees will transfer to the Co-operative Group, retaining their current terms and conditions of employment.

This is the first major petrol station acquisition following this summer&#039s merger of the Co-operative Group and United Co-operatives and underlines the Group&#039s ambitious plans for expansion.
