ANOTHER local Co-op name is about to disappear into the history books following a decisive vote by members of the small Raunds Society, Northants, to transfer engagements to Midlands Co-op, now Britain’s biggest independent society.

But in a highly unusual move, it took two Special General Meetings to secure the required two-thirds majority to proceed with the merger plans after members at the first meeting voted by just 99 to 72 to support the move.
