CO-OPERATIVE Group Chairman Bob Burlton has paid tribute to outgoing Chief Executive Martin Beaumont.
Speaking at the Group’s recent AGM in Manchester, Mr Burlton said Mr Beaumont had been a strong leader who had taken the Group much closer to achieving its aim of being the world’s best co-operative business.
Wishing the Chief Executive well for the future, Mr Burlton said “incredible progress” had been made under his leadership since 2002 and said Mr Beaumont would be remembered for the necessary restructuring and important work on the brand and membership plus the excellent results achieved.
Mr Beaumont, who was Chief Executive at United for ten years before joining the Group, told the meeting it had been “an enormous honour” to have led the country’s two most successful co-operative organisations.
