CO-OPERATIVE travel businesses are celebrating a night of success after winning four top trophies at the annual Agent Achievement Awards.
Both Travelcare and United Co-op Travel Group scored successes at the annual awards, which are sponsored by major companies in the travel industry and are the only ones voted for, and judged by, principals within the travel and leisure industry.
United Co-op Travel Group was named 'Best Large Leisure Travel Agency' for the Central England region in the awards. The Group operates the 138 branches throughout the North West and Yorkshire, website www.cooptravelshop.co.uk, call centres Cumbria Cruises, Apollo Travel, Barrow Travel and business travel company Co-operative Travel Management.
United Co-op Travel Group is also the parent company of Future Travel, Europe's largest travel homeworking company with over 600 homeworkers based across the UK.
Flying the flag for Travelcare was Jacqueline Fulton from Kingston Park branch who took the title for ?Leisure High Street Manager of the Year.'
The UK's largest independent travel retailer, Travelcare operates over 300 retail branches as well as selling travel through calls centres and the web. Its subsidiaries include Medlinland, Magic Breaks and cheapestflights.com.
Managers were nominated by suppliers as well as by travel agency staff. Nominees were asked to write about the importance of and how to improve, either product knowledge or customer relations. Jacqueline proved to be a cut above the rest after interviews were conducted with five finalists.
And there was more success for Travelcare, with Anne Cooper and Claire Eaglesfield, both from Travelcare in Witham, Essex, securing a winning place in the Travel Consultants Competition, beating hundreds of other entrants.
