THERE were celebrations for two colleagues at the Co-op Pharmacy in Llandeilo, when they were presented with awards for their services.
Kathleen Meader received flowers to mark 30 years' service at the branch, and pharmacist Gareth Jones collected a selection of wines after reaching the landmark figure of 200 Medicine Use Reviews carried out during 2006.
Kathleen, branch supervisor, was just 16 when she started working at the pharmacy in Rhosmaen Street. "I've had different roles while I've been here and there's been a few changes over the years," she said. "It's such a nice place to work. We play an important role in the local community and it means I know our regular customers by name."
As well as the bouquet presented by Amanda, Kathleen will choose another gift to mark her long service at Co-op Pharmacy, part of the Co-operative Group.
Pharmacist Gareth Jones earned his award by becoming the Co-operative Group's first pharmacist in Wales to complete 200 Medicine Use Reviews (MURs) with customers.
"We've liaised with the local GP's surgery to encourage people to have MURs," said Gareth, who has worked at the Llandeilo branch for 24 years.
"We have very loyal customers here, and we've had lots of positive feedback from people who have MURs."
