THE East of England Society has awarded a grant from its Community Dividend Fund to the Norwich-Dedza Partnership.
The partnership, which organises practical support and links between Norwich and the district of Dedza in Malawi, South Africa, was awarded £ 500 from the Dividend Fund. The money will go towards rebuilding the guardians' shelter at Dedza District Hospital to provide sanitary conditions for relatives of those at the hospital.
Terry King, Operations Manager for the Co-op's Norwich Department Store presented the cheque to Masawani Jere, the district commissioner for Dedza, who was visiting the region and Charles Nicholson, chairman of the Norwich-Dedza Partnership.
The East of England Co-op's 660 Community Dividend Fund is supported by Co-op members in the Ipswich and Norwich regions, who kindly donate their dividend to the fund for distribution to worthy causes. The Fund helps hundreds of charities and other local groups each year.
