THE Co-operative Group's regional distribution centre in West Thurrock has won a top award at a London ceremony known as "the property Oscars".
It was awarded the title "Best Speculative Unit" at the Industrial Agents' Society and Office Agents' Society Awards in Park Lane.
The award was collected by the building's owners, Legal and General, in recognition of design features including its temperature-controlled environment, its number of loading doors per square foot and its own multi-storey car park.
Chris Newton, Group Property Manager for Co-operative Retail Logistics, said: "We worked closely with Legal and General while they were designing the building and its features so we are delighted it has won such a prestigious title. It is a very special building and Legal and General showed a lot of foresight in designing it."
Around 700 staff work within the 321,000 sq ft West Thurrock regional distribution centre, which opened earlier this year.
