A KEIGHLEY petrol station is celebrating after beating off hundreds of competitors to win a top national award.

United Co-operatives&#039 Crosshills service station was named Best Main Route, Oil Company/Supermarket-Owned and Managed Forecourt 2006 by leading industry magazine Forecourt Trader.

Judges praised the Station Road store&#039s high standard of customer service and well-stocked shelves.

Manager Emma Gaunt, 31, said: "I&#039m very thrilled to win the award and very proud of all my nine staff. The award will get pride of place in the store."

Emma has worked for nine years at United Co-operatives and has managed the Crosshills store for three years.

United Co-operatives&#039 Petrol Operations Manager Andrew Westman said: "To receive an award like this is the highest accolade for any petrol retailer.
"It is recognition of the hard work and dedication for not only for store staff but for everyone involved."
