FOR the first time in ten years, the next Co-operative Congress will be staged on a different weekend from the Co-op Group AGM.

Co-operatives UK have announced that Congress 2007 – and the Education Forum – will take place at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from 22 to 24 June, which is more than a month after the Group&#039s AGM in Manchester (May 19th).

The change has been made to allow adequate time for the debate on the current constitutional review and ensure that delegates and representatives attending both events are not &#039double booked.&#039

The 2007 gathering will be the first Congress held on the south coast since 1999, when the venue was also the Metropole in Brighton.
