THE Co-op Group&#039s new purpose built distribution centre in Coventry is set to revolutionise CRTG&#039s service to 3,300 Co-op stores nationwide.

Employing 670 staff, the new National Distribution Centre opened recently by Group Chief Executive Martin Beaumont serves more stores than any other food retail logistics site in the UK.

Around 400 lorry loads leave the Coventry NDC each week carrying products, including food, drink and electrical items to Co-op stores from the Shetlands to the Channel Islands. The NDC, in Prologis Park, Coventry, began operating last year, but is now up to full productivity.

At the official opening, Mr Beaumont stressed the significance of the development for the Movement&#039s food retail business.

He said: "The opening of the National Distribution Centre and the reorganisation of our logistics network is a huge step forward in terms of food distribution for the Co-op Movement and helps us to provide even better service levels to our stores and customers."
