ANGLIA Regional Society has launched a pilot of its buying service for all department stores in the Co-operative Movement.
The division of the society, named Anglia Buying Service, has started a trial run with Lincolnshire Co-op&#039s Home Stores. To test its technology and processes ABS has begun buying for the cook shop in Lincolnshire&#039s stores.
In September, the pilot scheme will come to an end and ABS will then handle all buying for non-food stores when the Co-operative Retail Trading Group – which currently buys goods for all
branches – closes its department stores division.
The operation covers all societies that have department stores and will look after combined sales of around &#163 200 million.
