CHELMSFORD Star Co-op has joined in the Fairtrade Fortnight campaign by holding a special presentation evening for local schools dedicated to the cause.
The Thriftwood School, Chelmsford, was declared the winning school and was presented with an engraved cup in the society's ‘quadrant' department store for its Fairtrade commitment.
A number of speakers joined in the event including Malcolm Burgess, Chairman of the Chelmsford Fairtrade campaign, the Society's Marketing & PR Manager, Vanessa Howard and Lee Griffin, Marketing Manager from the Fairtrade South African Stellar Winery. They were all joined by special guest Councillor Patricia Hughes (Deputy Mayoress of Chelmsford).
During the evening there was Fairtrade food and wine tasting including a delicious giant Fairtrade chocolate cake.
